Attention all Camp 4th years!

I have camp info for all you 4th years.

(Kylie Kite, Cherrish Johnson, Callie Snook, Maya McCray)

.Ahoy All Ye 4th Years!

Come seek your treasure at Rainbow Creek.
Your experience this year at camp will begin with an overnight backpacking trip. We will begin our trip at 4 p.m. sharp, July 11, 2011. You should plan to arrive at camp at 3:30 p.m. to stow your gear that you won’t need for backpacking and be at the gate with your pack at 4 p.m. We will be hiking from camp to a site along Rainbow Creek. Following is a list of gear to bring as suggested in the camp manual, p. 29.

Fourth Year Backpacking List

Required backpack 1/5 to 1/4 of body weight.

1. trowel
2. tarp or tent/2 persons
3. sleeping bag and pad
4. lightweight stove and fuel
5. lightweight eating utensils or mess kit
6. small flashlight and extra batteries
7. compass
8. knife
9. waterproof matches
10. biodegradable soap (wet ones work well, too)
11. first aid kit
12. sunscreen
13. insect repellant
14. small towels
15. water bottle (1 liter pop bottle or canteen)
16. plastic bags for trash
17. large plastic bag to cover pack
18. poncho or lightweight rain gear
19. personal items (clothes, toothbrush & toothpaste, etc.)

Remember, keep it light!
Stake leaders will provide food for meals and you will help carry it to camp. If you bring snacks remember to not leave them in your pack or abode at night (the mice and squirrels will get in them).
Your pack should weigh no more than 1/5 – 1/4 of your body weight, close to 20 pounds is good. To share the load, buddy up with someone. One can carry the stove, the other the tarp, etc. Wear sturdy shoes and warm clothes for cool night and morning. We probably will not have a campfire because of fire danger. We will push off and be back at camp by 9 a.m. Tuesday. Please respond by email by July 4 if you will be going on the 4th year hike to Cathy Peterson at c_h_peterson@yahoo.com or Nancy Frazier at bnfrazier@msn.com or phone C. Peterson, 541-205-3574 or Nancy Frazier 541-883-2074.

Thank you,
Your hiking captains Nancy Frazier and Kathy Poole (old salts),
Chris Frazier (young salt)

Don't Forget!!

This is a message from our Stake YW President:

"Just a reminder of the Stake Youth Fireside this coming Sunday, May 15th at 6:00pm at the Stake Center. Bro. and Sis. Jeremy Westover will be speaking. Our Stake Youth Committee asked them to speak on a few points from For The Strength of Youth pamphlet. I think it will be a really great evening for our youth. There will be refreshments afterwards..........no surprise here - we are mormons afterall!

Thanks ladies - suzanne"
